Jacob Godar started Scooter’s Lawn Care in 2014.
But before we were Scooter’s Lawn Care Cape Coral FL… we were just an idea – a business venture without a name.
In the beginning, Jacob was mentored by a dear friend Jimmy – a retired entrepreneur, an absolute expert not only in our industry but in business in general.
At that time, Jacob was working at an auto body shop. Jimmy, always wanting to stay busy, pushed a broom around the shop, kept it clean, and was a trusted friend to most of the employees there (Jacob included).
Jacob rode to work every day on a moped scooter and soon earned the nickname from Jimmy that would go down in history.
“Scooter Boy!” he’d greet each morning, pushing a broom in the shop.
So when it became time to name this new lawn care business venture, Jimmy said: “I don’t know why you wouldn’t just call it ‘Scooter’s Lawn Care.'”

“Jimmy, that name is RIDICULOUS,” Jacob vividly remembers saying. But it grew on him. And, as it turns out, it became a momentous way to pay tribute to Jimmy, who – in that same year – ended a battle with cancer, valiantly fighting (and helping others) until the very end.
Since the early days, we’ve had people chuckle at the silly name – or assume Jacob goes by “Scooter” in his everyday life.
He doesn’t correct them. Jacob just smiles and remembers back to those days being greeted with a familiar old, “Scooter Boy!” each morning.
All we do is in your memory, Jimmy.
