scooter's lawn care cape coral fl
Jacob Godar, now CEO of Scooter’s Lawn Care, Inc., started his professional career in the auto body field.

He worked alongside many great men at Zara’s Collision Center in Springfield, Illinois, including the retired Jimmy Fulginiti.

On the record, Jimmy’s job was to push a broom around the shop.

Off the record, Jimmy’s wife knew he was restless in retirement and needed to get out of the house – so off he went.

Now to get the full picture of Jacob in those days, you’d have to imagine this: he had long, shaggy hair and was the proud owner of a moped scooter.

(A bit different than the Jacob you know today – but his work ethic remained.)

Every morning, he rode in to the parking lot on his moped.

And every morning, he was greeted by Jimmy’s booming: “Hey, Scooter Boy!”

Soon, Jacob started planning his next career move: the launch of his own lawn care business.

A lifetime entrepreneur himself, Jimmy offered his experience, knowledge, and wisdom to Jacob without hesitating.

Day in and day out, Jimmy guided Jacob through his first year of business. He was always there to answer any question Jacob had.

When it came time to give the venture a name, Jimmy said: “I don’t know why you wouldn’t just call it ‘Scooter’s.’”

Jacob’s reply?

“Jimmy, that has got to be the dumbest name I’ve ever heard!”

But it stuck.

You see, all the while Jimmy was advising Jacob on business, he was also valiantly fighting a battle against cancer.

Even as he lay in bed shortly before passing away, he was using his remaining bit of energy to ask Jacob how “Scooter’s” was going.

Like many things Jimmy laid a hand on, we would not be all that we are without him.

He is missed every day. ♥️
